Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune Visits the Department of Automation, Biocybernetics and Robotics at Jožef Stefan Institute
On Wednesday, 14 March 2025, the President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, visited the Jožef Stefan Institute as part of his official visit to Slovenia. He was welcomed by the Institute’s Director, Prof. Dr. Boštjan Zalar, and then continued his visit at the Department of Automation, Biocybernetics and Robotics, where Prof. Dr. Aleš Ude, Head of the Department, and Prof. Dr. Igor Mekjavić, together with other colleagues, presented the Laboratory for Industrial and Humanoid Robotics, the Laboratory for Neuromechanics and Biorobotics, the Laboratory for Collaborative Robotics, and the Laboratory for Space Physiology.
At the department, we presented our work on national and international research projects, focusing on robotic assembly and disassembly, fine manipulation, and systems for robotic inspection and textile manipulation. We also showcased the development of wearable robotic devices and their control based on neurological feedback.
The visit confirmed mutual interest in scientific cooperation and highlighted the importance of the research conducted at the Department of Automation, Biocybernetics and Robotics in the fields of robotics, neuroscience, and space technologies.
